Each month I am going to post pictures and video clips of what she is learning to do, and how she is progressing! Her Physical Therapist Ellie, suggests to parents that they video tape the child each month, doing what they have been working on. This way it makes it easier to see the progress when sometimes it can seem like there isn't much. Or it may be moving slower than you had hoped.
Here is Lola trying to see through her hair, and sitting the proper "chair position". This usually comes naturally for kids. You have to place your feet the proper width (about the width of your shoulders) apart and point them forward. Lola points them both to the far right. They just sort of lay there most the time. Also note the degree that her knees should be bent at. This is where the right chair at the right height (thanks Lana!) comes into play. Lola locks her knees and didn't like to sit anywhere near this way in the past. We are now working on her knee locking when she is pulling up to knee position-yes she is doing this now!!-she will go back down to her bum and stick a leg straight out. During her therapy sessions Dax feels very left out with Lola getting all the hands on attention. So here he is, playing with her when she is sitting at a play table, feet and knees in the right position.
Here she is putting weight on both arms to support her body in the classic crawl. She still turns in that foot, and isn't taking a crawl forward in this position yet, but she's almost there!
This video is a bit long, but shows how they help correct her through play, and redirecting.
Here she is showing off her dancing skills and blowing some kisses :)
